In typical Nat fashion, I went to the party last night and got very drunk and chatted to a load of people. I ended (hopefully) with 2 new friends - an american gal and a gay boy! (Who needs straight boys anyway?!) Oh although there was a cute italian guy who imports italian coffee (he is very short though - maybe I could just use him for his coffee!)
2 notable moments with my 2 new friends. Talking to the gay boy (from BrisVegas) for a couple of minutes, and I ask him if he's gay (well I actually ask him if he likes boys). "How did you know?" he asks - my response "Well I am from Sydney" ;)
My american friend (Amy) and I met in the bathroom (as you do). Having a nice little chat - where are you from?
me: Australia
Amy: Oh I've always wanted to go down under
To which we both crack up in giggles - and we weren't even that drunk at that point!
So I hopefully have acquired a couple of friends - and catching up with Amy and her bf tonight (although they're living in the sticks!).
It really is the joy of alcohol, who knows if I connect with these people, but everyone seems much nicer when I'm drunk! And now to deal with my hangover...

The difficulties of writing a blog!
A few weeks ago I emailed Will and complained that he had not updated his blog in a while. And he replied that he wasn't in the mood (or something along those lines, but far more wordy coming from Will). Well that has now been my problem. And of course I occasionally end up wondering - who is my audience with this rambling prose? Sometimes I treat as a diary, or at least a journal, but always in the back of my mind, is a reminder that there is an audience. (And I bet Will knows what I mean). And mostly that hasn't bothered me, I have just been very aware to not give this URL to anyone at Michael Page ;) So now that I know people actually read this blog, a slight level of censorship comes into play, that wouldn't be there if no one was reading it. (Kinda reminds you of a tree falling in the forest - hey ma)
Anyway enough blogstuff, how about some events. Volunteering on sunday was really fun, and I'm actually surprised I haven't updated the blog since, but I guess I've been tired. Standing out in the rain, with a very funny local girl who studied in the UK, selling rice. Yep pretty fun (seriously). Then we all went out for beer. So again no best buddies, but good to have some random company.
Monday I went to my second mandarin lesson - I think I'm getting worse!(oh and I'm bludging class tonight, I cant be bothered). Then met up with a random friend of a friend who was in town for work. Had a great time, but the thing that pisses me off, is that I've been making an effort to find a friend that I instantly connect with (like RM in soho, or Ebby in WBJ) and of course I meet one and he's from Sydney. Why can't I meet someone local? So the rest of the week I have been sleep deficient, (sp?) moody, and sulky about my serious lack of friends. Unlike Will, I don't do well alone. I do really sucky when alone (and funnily enough sucky in relationships too!). Yeh I quite like living at home and having my own space, but I need actual friends not random strangers I go out for a drink with. So I'm fed up, and I should have gone to class tonight, but I want an early night, and I don't want to spend the night with strangers yet again.
Saying that of course I'm going to an expat party at a club tomorrow night, where I'll probably know no one and meet no one worth stalking. (That's my new measure of friend worthiness). And of course thats my only plan for the whole wkend - what fun. I guess sleep , and maybe that massage i meant to get last wk.
Is it wrong to watch ABC news for the pictures of sydney? Oh and Im going to tokyo - dtls to follow...
Feel free to call, send gifts , send friends or visit!!
